Sant Pere de Ribes, Spain
Finca Mas Solers is located in the municipality of Sant Pere de Ribes, about 35 minutes south of Barcelona and just five minutes from Sitges.
With origins dating back to the 13th century, Finca Mas Solers later became a 19th-century aristocratic residence and, over time, a cultural retreat. Today, the estate is known for its grand gardens, elegant architecture, and timeless Mediterranean setting. We fell in love with it right away and are so happy to celebrate here with you.

Return transportation will be available at 1:00 a.m., 3:00 a.m., and 5:00 a.m., with two coaches for the final departure. For guests wishing to leave earlier, a private car will depart at midnight.
Travel
Barcelona is served by Barcelona–El Prat Airport, with direct flights from many cities in the U.S., across Europe, and beyond.
For guests traveling within Europe, Barcelona is also easily reached by train. Main stations include Barcelona Sants, Estació de França, and Passeig de Gràcia, all well connected to the city center.

We are so grateful and honored that you will be joining us in Barcelona for our special weekend. We hope you have the chance to explore the city, get a little lost, and fall in love with all that it has to offer.
Barcelona is a city best experienced slowly. Walk as much as you can. Stop for a long lunch. Have a vermut in the afternoon. Wander into a market, order something you have never tried, and don’t worry too much about checking everything off a list.
Architecture & Places to Explore
We fell in love with Barcelona, particularly its Modernista charm.
A trip to Barcelona is not complete without walking through the Gothic Quarter, El Born and Eixample. Most of our guests will be staying in Eixample, which means “the Expansion” in Catalan. The neighborhood was designed in the 19th century around a distinctive grid of octagonal blocks, intended to bring more light, air and open space into city life.
One of our personal favorites is the Illa de la Discòrdia, or “Block of Discord,” on Passeig de Gràcia. Within a single block, you can see dramatically different examples of Catalan Modernisme, including Casa Batlló, Casa Amatller and Casa Lleó Morera.
Eixample is also home to some of Barcelona’s most famous architectural landmarks, including the Sagrada Família, Casa Batlló and La Pedrera, Casa Milà.
For the Sagrada Família, Park Güell and the major Gaudí houses, we strongly recommend booking tickets in advance.
Enjoy a long lunch, tapas and vermut, or a late evening meal.
Catalan cuisine is often described through the idea of mar i muntanya, sea and mountain, bringing seafood, meats, vegetables, olive oil and cured products together in ways that are simple, regional and incredibly good.
You will also quickly discover that fish comes in many forms: raw, grilled, cured, smoked, marinated and straight from a tin.
Don’t be afraid.
A trip would not be complete without trying:
Pan con tomate: rustic bread rubbed with tomato and dressed with olive oil and salt
Olives: everywhere, in many varieties, and almost always a good idea
Patatas bravas: fried potatoes with spicy bravas sauce and, depending on the place, allioli
Croquetas: crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside and filled with everything from jamón to mushrooms or seafood
Tortilla Española: the classic Spanish potato and egg omelet; bonus points if the center is still a little runny
Anchovies and sardines: fresh, cured, marinated or straight from the tin
Fricandó: a traditional Catalan stew of thinly sliced beef and mushrooms
Gilda: an olive, anchovy and pickled pepper skewer; salty, spicy and perfect with a vermut
Jamón ibérico, fuet and llonganissa: some of our favorite cured meats
Butifarra: a traditional Catalan sausage that you will find in many different forms
Markets
Barcelona is a city of neighborhood markets. Many are open six days a week and continue to serve as places where locals buy produce, seafood, meat, olives, cheese and cured products. La Boqueria is the most famous and the most visited, but we would also recommend Mercat de Sant Antoni or Mercat del Ninot, both of which feel more like neighborhood markets and are an easy walk from many of the hotels. Our market is Mercat d’Hostafrancs.
Take some time to wander through the stalls. You will find fruit and vegetables, fishmongers, olive stands and cansaladeries filled with jamón ibérico, fuet, llonganissa, butifarra and other sausages and cured meats.
And if you need groceries, wine, snacks or provisions for your hotel room, two of our favorites are:
Mercadona: a Spanish supermarket and, in our opinion, worth a visit in its own right.
Ametller Origen: probably the closest Catalan equivalent to Whole Foods, with great produce, prepared foods and local products.
Bakeries
Barcelona has incredible bakeries scattered throughout nearly every neighborhood. Two of our favorites are Turris and Santanch.
The choices can be overwhelming, so our advice is simple: try things. A piece of toasted pa de coca with olive oil, tomato and jamón is never a bad idea.
Our favorite Catalan pastry is the xuixo, a fried pastry rolled in sugar and filled with crema. It is also one of our nickname's for Baby G.

La Flauta (Eixample): one of our favorite places for tapas and a great spot open until 1am
Bar Cañete (El Raval): classic Barcelona, with great seafood, tapas and an energetic atmosphere
Vinitus (Eixample): lively, casual and great for sharing plates
Soma (Eixample): a neighborhood favorite with a great daily menu
DeLaCrem (Eixample): excellent gelato; try the dark chocolate, Michael’s dad’s favorite
Labalabusta (Eixample): Middle Eastern food and great sharing plates
Curtis (Eixample): a great bar with DJs spinning vinyl in the evenings
Silan (Eixample): another favorite for Middle Eastern food
La Colmena (Gothic Quarter): a historic pastry shop and a great place to stop for something sweet
Origo Bakery (Sant Antoni): excellent bread and a rotating selection of pastries
Bar del Pi (Gothic Quarter): grab a table outside and people-watch in one of the Gothic Quarter’s prettiest squares
Can Paixano (Barceloneta): an old-school, standing-room cava bar known for bottles of cava, sandwiches and sausages
Gloria Osteria: Zena and John's favorite Italian restaurant. We never miss it when they're in town!
Some of Barcelona’s best moments happen when you simply pick a neighborhood and walk.
Eixample
Beautiful architecture, broad avenues, restaurants, cafés and many of the city's major Modernista buildings.
Gothic Quarter
Narrow medieval streets, hidden plazas, churches and layers of Barcelona history.
El Born
One of our favorite areas for walking, with restaurants, wine bars, boutiques and beautiful old streets.
Sant Antoni
A little more local and relaxed, centered around its historic market and surrounded by great restaurants and bars.
Poble-sec
At the foot of Montjuïc, with small bars, restaurants and easy access to the hill.
Barceloneta
For a walk along the Mediterranean and a completely different side of the city.
Poblenou
Formerly industrial and increasingly creative, with wide streets, restaurants and easy access to the beach.
Above all, don’t over schedule yourselves.

Day Trips
Costa Brava & Sitges
Barcelona sits in Catalunya, a region with its own Catalan language, traditions, and a strong sense of local pride. Exploring beyond the city is a great way to get a feel for the landscapes, towns, and rhythms of everyday life here. Friday, or another open day if you’re staying a bit longer, can be a great time for a day trip.
Costa Brava - meaning “Wild Coast” - is an easy place to spend anything from a long day to a few nights outside the city. It’s known for clear water, small coves, and laid-back seaside towns. We love Begur and S’Agaró for their relaxed beach feel, as well as Cadaqués, a whitewashed town closely tied to Salvador Dalí. Girona and Figueres are also great stops if you’re in the mood to wander historic streets, eat well, and slow things down a bit.
For a very easy day trip, Sitges is a seaside town just south of Barcelona with a relaxed, welcoming feel. Known for its beaches, charming old town, and coastal atmosphere, Sitges is easily reached by train and makes for a perfect day by the water. Our wedding venue, Finca Mas Solers, is also located nearby.
Montserrat
For something completely different, Montserrat offers dramatic mountain views, scenic trails, and a historic monastery that is nearly 1,000 years old. Located about 60 kilometers outside Barcelona, the mountain’s distinctive saw-tooth shape—where its name comes from—creates a striking landscape of rounded rock formations that feel almost sculpted.
Montserrat is easily reached from Barcelona by train, followed by a scenic cable car or rack railway ride up the mountain, which makes the trip itself part of the fun.
